Read-A-Thon 2025

Support our Reading Leopards! What is a Read-A-Thon?

Welcome to Lincoln’s Reading Adventures which is also our read-a-thon event! This fundraiser is a school-wide event to celebrate reading, to foster healthy reading habits and to fundraise for our school. We spotlight the power of reading for 5 adventurous days by providing an opportunity for students and their families to focus on books and reading together.

When do students begin and end logging reading time?

Students may log after school reading minutes from Monday, March 3rd through Mid-night of Friday, March 7th.

READING GOAL

Our school-wide 2025 reading goal is 100,000 minutes. We encourage each student to read 30 minutes per day! 😊📚

FUNDRAISING GOAL

Help us meet our Read-A-Thon goal of $30,000! The money raised will help maintain all the PTA-supported programs such as Back to School night, Ice Cream Social, Lincoln Pumpkin Patch, Project Cornerstone, Book Fair, movie night, field trip buses or admissions and much more. Please consider donating on behalf of your child and inviting family members and friends to donate as well. We hope that every student can raise $50 from their sponsors. Sponsors can include neighbors, grandparents, parent’s Facebook friends, dentists, piano teachers.

How does the Read-A-Thon Work?

  1. Parents, register your child(s) here and find their class (Room#), and login to their profile. Start reading, and let the ADVENTURE begin! Keep track of your minutes and record them every day as often as possible!

The readers with the most minutes will receive prizes! 🎉📚

  1. It is a one-time, flat donation that supports our cause without any per-minute or per-book tracking.
  2. On our FUNDHUB Fundraising Website, you will find information on:
  1. How much you have read
  2. How much we have raised relative to our goal
  3. How to register your student/s to start collecting online donations
  4. Start spreading the word! Share your child’s page easily with QR code via emails/text messages, social media, for donations. Every dollar counts! When all families participate, we will fulfill our mission to our children and make our school stronger. Your student’s profile page can be found ONLY through your shared link or QR code.

★ Note: Lincoln PTA receives 100% of cash/check donations and 85% of credit card donations.

🌟 Special Prizes! 🌟

Keep reading, track your minutes, and aim for the top!

❖ Since our primary goal is to foster a love for reading, awards will be based solely on total reading minutes, not on the amount fundraised. We aim to inspire students to immerse themselves in books and build strong reading habits!

❖ The program will be divided into three grade-level groups:

Group 1 (TK, K, 1st), Group 2 (2nd-3rd), and Group 3 (4th-5th).

The FIRST classroom in each group to achieve 100% registration on FundHub will receive a special reward!

Daily Awards: Each day, one student and one class in each group with the most total reading minutes will be recognized with an award.

Grand Awards: At the end of the event, an additional award will be given to one student and one class in each group with the highest total reading minutes throughout the entire event.

❖ The prizes include a variety of rewards, such as admission tickets to local attractions and more!

For Other Frequently Asked Questions

What reading counts? Does reading to my child count as well?

Yes, ALL reading counts, including being read to by another student or an adult. Books, e-books, picture books, textbooks, graphic novels, magazines and newspapers all count towards minutes. Audio books do not count.

Do students have to record their minutes every day?

Why not?! Students can build up their minutes whenever they can, and daily log just help them keep track of it and encourage them to read more. Only reading done after school hours will count, and tracking will end at midnight.

How to donate?

Students can ask family, friends and neighbors to sponsor them through a shared QR code. For convenience, sponsors may support their student online, however we will lose 15% of the donations. Alternatively, students will be sent home a reading packet with a donation envelope on Feb 27th via their mesh folder, so we get to keep 100% of your donations. Please consider sponsoring by check or cash!

When is the donation money due?

ALL donations (cash, check and online) should be turned in by Wednesday, March 12th.

How to make cash/check donations?
Return the envelope with cash and check donations to their teachers or the office.
Please include the student’s nameroom number and donation amount on the envelope.

Please download your pledge form here.

● Please make checks payable to: Lincoln Elementary PTA.

Are read-a-thon donations tax deductible? What about corporate matching?

Yes, FundHub will provide a receipt after you make the online donation on the website. Cash and check donation receipts will be distributed upon request. Please request through lincolncupertinoptatreasurer@gmail.com if donation is over $250.
